2005 CCS Walkathon
The 700 students and staff of Cary Christian School hit the cart paths of MacGregor Downs Country Club on Monday, April 11, to raise money for their new campus. This is the third consecutive year that the school has held a walkathon. "It's the one time a year that we ask students to participate in raising money for their own campus," says Gene Liechty, director of development at Cary Christian School.
Each student attempts to raise $100 in donations by telephoning family and friends, asking donors to pledge a certain number of dollars per hole that the child walks. All the students, grades K-12, walked the front nine at MacGregor this year.
"We are grateful to Ben Hynson, director of Golf at MacGregor, for allowing us to use their well-groomed course for this event," said Liechty. "It has been a beautiful walk on a beautiful day."
